South Brisbane overcome Magic

South Brisbane came from a goal down at the break to beat a courageous Inner West Magic 3-2 in a thrilling Women’s F-League opener at Eagle Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

A Rhianna Pollicina first-half goal gave the visitors a dream start and Inner West led 2-1 at oranges, but Magic only had 10 players to call upon for the match and the Queenslanders subsequently rallied behind a Sarah Amorim double and Gabe Marzano strike to overtake their NSW rivals in an exciting second stanza and grab the full points on offer.

South Brisbane see off Vipers

South Brisbane grabbed their early competition jump with a second straight win beating Vic Vipers 4-1 at Eagle Sports Complex on Sunday morning.

The home side clung to a slender 1-0 advantage at halftime but held their nerve in a feisty game that saw five yellow cards brandished and the Queenslanders eventually claimed their three-goal win, Natalie Tathem scoring twice and Nicola Eagle and Nichole Laws adding the extras, while Jamilla Hull struck the sole Vic goal.
